Let’s Explore Pluto and other Dwarf Planets In 2006 astronomers decided that Pluto is too small to be considered a planet, so Pluto is now called a Dwarf Planet. To find out more look in the series Blast off! – these are great new books about our Solar System. These are located in the Non-Fiction area of the library under the Dewey number 523.

Girlz Rock! Skater Chicks The boys have had Boyz Rule! books for some time, so now its time for the series Girlz Rock! These are great stories which you can read with a friend. Look out for more of the Girlz Rock stories located in the Fiction end of the library in the Junior Chapter book area.

Tani the Sea Monster This is a new picture book to add to our great collection. It is about a sea monster called Tani who is big and green and mean! It is written and illustrated by New Zealander Denise Short so it will be located under S in the picture book shelves.

Puzzle Train This book is located in the Sophisticated Picture book area of the library and it’s a book where each page has items to search for and a puzzle to solve. This would appeal to anyone who loves trains and loves puzzles

Horrible Science: Evolve or Die This book is about survival and extinction – it has lots of interesting squishy bits, along with fact files, curious quizzes, teacher tests and crazy cartoons. A great read if you like weird and wonderful stuff. It is written by Phil Gates and is located in the Fiction area under GAR.

Horrible Geography: Stormy Weather This book is similar to the series Horrible Science but is all about natural disasters, with facts and survival tips about tornados, hurricanes and electrical storms. This makes the weather topic really gripping! This book is located under GAN in the Fiction area of the library as it is written by Anita Ganeri

Don’t Worry Nana, I’ll Drive This is a lovely story of a grandmother and her grandson playing together and using their imagination to head off on a wild adventure. This picture book is written by Raymond McGrath and is located under M in the picture book area.

Sophisticated picture books are located in the fiction area of the library and are picture books with themes more suitable for older students. Graphic novels (comic/cartoon books) and puzzle books are also located here.
